Sejarah

PIMNAD Basketball Team History

PIMNAD Basketball Club begin in 1995 when Ikatan Remaja Pupuk Iskandar Muda (IRPIM)/Pupuk Iskandar Muda Teenage Association interested to participate in basketball competition in Aceh. PIMNAD was abbreviation from Pupuk Iskandar Muda Nangroe Aceh Darussalam.

PIMNAD has vision as a place to build player with champion character (‘low profile-high target’ via discipline, respect, solidarity, and integrity) therefore someday PIMNAD can become one of role model in Indonesian basketball and become pride of Aceh people.

Since 1997, PIMNAD often follows championship and tournament even represents Aceh in national championship. Serious and routine practice in situation of familiarity, PIMNAD always shows improvement of their achievement. Besides team that is now compete in Kobatama (Kompetisi Bola Basket Utama/Indonesian Amateur Basketball Premiership Competition), PIMNAD also has commitment to train young player in junior level.

PIMNAD achievement is not an instant effort, but through practices, regeneration, and creation of conducive situation. Discipline, togetherness, respects each other and familiarity, is the key of success for PIMNAD to be able to pierce domination of teams of Java in Kobatama history.

Because of no basketball facility in Aceh with fulfillment standard, management of PIMNAD try to find a place where team can get their best facilities.Bandung, a city with high altitude in West Java, was chosen to be PIMNAD home base. They choose Bandung cause here is one of the city with many good basketball teams and with many good college and school, hence PIMNAD can easier obtain good sparing team meanwhile player can still continue their study.

Since 1982, in Kobatama competition there is no team from outside Java Island which can be a champion. But PIMNAD broke the record. A year after tsunami disaster (2004), PIMNAD success get the Kobatama Champions in 2005. They beat Biangbola Mitra in Final.

“We give our championship for tsunami victims in Aceh. We hope they still have spirit to get back their life. We’ve show, if we want and try hard, we can reach our dream,” said Lukman Hasibuan, M.D., a medical doctor in Lhokseumawe (Aceh), head coach of PIMNAD.

After get Kobatama Champions in 2005, PIMNAD change their abbreviation with Passion-Integrity-Magnificent for Nangroe Aceh Darussalam. Now, PIMNAD have a new spirit for the future.

A year later (2006), PIMNAD become Kobatama Tournament Champions and Kobatama 2nd Runner-up.Performance at Arafura Games 2007 is their first international game.
